Today marks a significant milestone in Wevr's journey. We're establishing our European subsidiary in Malta, expanding our global footprint and creating new opportunities to connect world-class talent across continents.
Malta isn't a random choice—it's strategic. The island nation has quietly built one of Europe's most dynamic creative and digital ecosystems, combining high-performance internet infrastructure with a thriving game development community and a proven Hollywood legacy (Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and countless other major productions have filmed there).
But what really drew us to Malta was the collaborative spirit we experienced firsthand. Our first partnership with Malta—the Malta Pavilion immersive experience at World Expo Osaka—earned 3rd place in the People's Choice Award among over 100 countries.
This expansion wouldn't be possible without our partners in Malta. We're working closely with Malta Enterprise, Gaming Malta, and the Malta Film Commission to build something meaningful for the entire creative community.
As part of this expansion, we're launching a Talent Residency program in Malta. This initiative will grow our global Talent Network by bringing together artists, designers, and developers from around the world to collaborate on cutting-edge immersive projects.
The residency isn't just about attracting international talent—it's about creating an environment where creative professionals can push boundaries, experiment with new technologies, and build the next generation of immersive experiences.
We're not starting from scratch in Europe. Wevr has already been collaborating with exceptional EU studios, including Stargate Studios in Malta, Cyan Planet in the Czech Republic, and Cibo Studio in Italy.
The Malta studio will strengthen these existing relationships and open doors to new collaborations across the European creative landscape. This international collaboration is enabled by Wevr’s virtual studio infrastructure - a cloud-based production framework that enables distributed teams to build immersive products together.
Since pioneering experiences like The Blu, Wevr has been committed to pushing the boundaries of immersive, social entertainment. This European expansion represents the next chapter in that journey—one where we can embrace diverse creative perspectives, access top talent pools based wherever they are in the world, and build experiences that resonate globally.
The EU is home to one of the most vibrant immersive ecosystems. Combined with our Los Angeles foundation, we're now positioned to bridge two major creative markets and advance the state of the art of immersive production.
This is just the beginning. We're excited about the projects already in development, the talent we'll bring together through the residency program, and the partnerships we'll forge in the months and years ahead.
For creators, developers, and artists interested in joining us on this journey—whether in Malta, Los Angeles, or anywhere in our global network—stay tuned. We're building something special, with opportunities for exceptional talent who share our vision for the future of immersive entertainment.
